iLearn Schools Chief Growth Officer
Ms. Dawn Fantasia greets Governor Christie, all visitors, staff, students, and parents.
"What a day for us! Welcome! Welcome to our Governor Chris Christie! Today is a day to celebrate. We have much to be proud of. In September of 2007, we opened our doors with one single campus in Garfield NJ, serving 360 students in grades Kindergarten through fifth, and in September of 2017 we will serve over 3,000 students across ten campuses in four counties of Northern NJ. Just last week, this charter high school was ranked by the Washington Post as the 4th most challenging high school in Bergen County, and of the over 900 combined public and private high schools in the state, our school was ranked 32nd in the state of NJ.
Yes, this is due to our rigorous curriculum, our talented teaching staff, our co-curricular programs, our cultural awareness and respect for diversity, and our supportive families and school community. But none of this would be possible without the steadfast support of our leaders like Governor Christie. With his support, we are able to show NJ and the nation what strong, individualized instruction should like, can look like, and does look like. But instead of just telling you, we think it’s best to show you."

"Good morning! What an honor to welcome Governor Christie to our school today! I’d like to welcome all of our students, staff, families, and special guests. This is amazing! For years we have wished for this day, and we are just thrilled to have you join us here this morning, and we are proud to share what we are doing across iLearn Schools with you.
With our innovations, like digitalized curriculum and classrooms, a one-to-one iPad education program, STEAM, project-based learning, and small class sizes, in such a short time we have been able to build a charter school community that puts teaching and learning first. But in order to do this, we need access to secure funding and a strong charter school law that allows us to serve as many students as possible, and we appreciate your continued support and belief in us.
iLearn Schools challenges our students to be the next great leaders in our state and in the nation…..and I am so pleased to introduce one of our student leaders. She was selected as one of this year's two US Senate Youth Program delegates, and has made her decision to study at Rutgers University in the fall. She is part of our Students in Action Team, and has demonstrated strong academics, peer leadership, and has traveled abroad as part of a service mission to aid children in the most impoverished parts of our world. It is with great pride that I introduce to you Miss Abigail Yashiro."
"New Jersey has provided me with such great educational opportunities, and this school has prepared me for my future, and I chose Rutgers University." - Abigail Yashiro
"I am so honored to have the opportunity to introduce the Governor today. Our school is so grateful for your work in advancing the charter school movement here in New Jersey.
Having the opportunity to represent New Jersey as one of the two U.S. Senate Youth Program delegates from the state is an absolute honor. It is even more special knowing that Governor Christie is a former recipient and delegate himself. If winning this award means anything, perhaps I too will become Governor one day."
“2016 marks the 20th anniversary of charter schools in New Jersey and in this administration we’ve expanded these charter schools more than any other administration”
- Governor Christie
"There is no one who comes to this high school and says there is anything they cannot achieve." - Governor Christie
